Executive Pastor
Born on October 20, 1972, in Chicago, Illinois, Elder Chevonne Doll-Readus is the proud daughter of Isaiah and Elder Samaria Poelinitz Doll. She is the fourth of 13 siblings, a testament to a strong family legacy of faith and perseverance.
Elder Chevonne’s educational journey began at Saint Francis Cabrini Catholic School, followed by Jensen Scholastic Academy, William Hinton Elementary School, Englewood High School, and Paul Robeson High School. She continued her studies at Northwestern College in Chicago, Grand Canyon University in Arizona, and Walden University in Minnesota, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Special Education.
She is the devoted wife of Lamonco Readus and the loving mother of two daughters, Chewanah and Jerrai, and one son, Amari. She is also the proud grandmother of two granddaughters, Zaniya and Ery’Ann, and one grandson, Amari.
Elder Chevonne has been a lifelong member of Travelers Rest Spiritual Church, where her spiritual roots run deep under the leadership of Bishop Andre Poelinitz Sr. Her ministerial journey began in 1992 through the New Thought Development Class under the late Rev. Dr. Jude Poelinitz and Rev. Alice Foney. She was later ordained by the late Rev. Dr. Annie Ree Sconiers and faithfully served under the senior leadership of Rev. Maria Poelinitz Cook-Lee as Vice President of the Ushers Board, a leader in the Nurses Department, and a dedicated member of the Missionary Board under the late Pastor Emeritus, Rev. Dr. Sandra J. Mayfield.
In 2015, Elder Chevonne and her family relocated to Prince George’s County, Maryland. Since 2017, she has served within the Prince George’s County Public Schools, continuing her commitment to education and community support.
In 2018, Elder Chevonne joined the Tabernacle Alexandria, formerly known as City of Our God Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor William Allen III. She has been instrumental in kingdom building and youth ministry, and in March 2021, she was elevated to the office of Executive Pastor.
Her passion for music has led her to serve in music ministries at Damascus Baptist Church (Rev. Dr. Malcolm Walton, Pastor), True Light Church Baptist (Rev. Dr. LaRue Kidd, Pastor), Metropolitan Apostolic Community Church (the late Rev. Dr. Leon Finney Jr, Pastor), and Outreach Ministries (Bishop Florida Jackson, Pastor).
Elder Chevonne has also shared her vocal talents on a national scale, singing with The Westside Community Singers, Walt Whitman and the Soul Children of Chicago, Love Unlimited Choir, and the recording choir William Smith Jr. & The Renewed Voices for Christ. She has had the honor of performing alongside legends such as the late James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Inez Andrews, Ricky Dillard, Evangelist Lemmie Battles, Percy and Gerald Gray, and Evangelist Chrystal Rucker. Her powerful voice has even graced the Oprah Winfrey Show, where she sang background as Maya Angelou recited a poem. She remains an active member of the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA).
With over 40 years of service to the National Metropolitan Spiritual Churches Inc., Elder Chevonne currently serves on the Board of Directors, as President of the Choir, Director for both the National and Youth Choirs, and has held roles such as Personal Assistant to the President of the Ministers Board, Corresponding Secretary, and Ministers and Layman’s Spiritual Council #1.
Elder Chevonne’s guiding scripture is Romans 12:1 – “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
